“Keep An Eye…” Romano Claims Chelsea Are Seriously Considering Bid For 21 Year Old Midfielder

Chelsea remain interested in signing Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist claims there is a good chance that the Blues will make an offer for the 21-year-old before the end of the summer transfer window:

“Let me say, you have to keep an eye on Caicedo and Chelsea until the end of the market, Chelsea are there, he remains in the list.”

Caicedo was the subject of multiple bids from Arsenal in January, and he even took to social media to demand a move to the Emirates.

However, Brighton stood firm on their stance to keep him, and he ultimately signed a contract extension with the Seagulls.

A sale in the coming weeks and months is still believed to be a strong possibility, though, with manager Roberto De Zerbi having reportedly promised Caicedo that he can leave if the club receive the right offer.

Why are Chelsea waiting to make an offer for Caicedo?

There are two reasons why the Blues have not made a move for the Ecuadorian international straight away. Firstly, they are currently locked in talks to sign another midfielder, Sporting Lisbon’s Manuel Ugarte, and he is said to be Mauricio Pochettino’s priority.

Secondly, Financial Fair Play rules mean Chelsea may not have the funds to meet Caicedo’s asking price, so they will need to raise money through player sales before they make a formal bid.
