Kante Speaks Out On Whether He Would Join Real Madrid If Zidane Asked Him To

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has rejected talk about moving to Real Madrid.

Reports in recent weeks have suggested that Zinedine Zidane is keen on signing both the Frenchman and Eden Hazard this summer.

However, speaking on international duty about his future, he said he would not leave Chelsea, even if Zidane asked him to:

“Today I am still at Chelsea. What is said elsewhere? That is not important. Even if Zidane calls me? No, it’s not important, today I’m at Chelsea and I’m focusing on that.”

The Blues are currently under a transfer ban and would not be able to replace Kante if he were to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

The 27-year-old signed a new five-year contract back in November, committing him to the club until 2023. At the time, Kante said he had every intention of staying for the long term and stated he was very happy in London:

“It has been two beautiful years and I wish for more to come. Since I came, I have completely improved as a player, challenged myself and got some awards I never thought about. I like the city, I like the club and I am happy to be here for more time.”

This campaign, manager Maurizio Sarri has played the France international in a more advanced role, which has seen him score four goals and provide four assists in 43 appearances.
