Journalist Reports Chelsea’s Stance Has Forced Leverkusen Into Making Key Decision Over Havertz

Chelsea’s refusal to make a formal offer for Kai Havertz has led to Bayer Leverkusen deciding that the 21-year-old will play in the Europa League next month.

It was hoped that an agreement between the Blues and the Bundesliga club could be reached before they face Rangers next week, but BILD journalist Christian Falk says that now seems unlikely:

Transfers can move fast and Chelsea could well table a bid before next Thursday’s match at the BayArena, but the two sides are clearly not on the same page at the moment.

Multiple sources suggest Havertz is keen on a move away from Leverkusen, after the German side failed to qualify for the Champions League, while many reports also claim he is very keen to sign on the dotted line for the Blues.

The biggest issue remains the transfer fee, with Chelsea looking to pay in the region of £70m while Leverkusen want them to match their £90m asking price.
