Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu is expected to join newly-promoted Fulham on a season-long loan, according to The Athletic‘s Michael Bailey.

The website’s Norwich correspondent was asked whether the Canaries were interested in taking the 19-year-old, and he replied that while Daniel Farke’s side would have been keen, the player is poised to join the Cottagers instead:

Ampadu spent last season out on loan, but he struggled for game time at RB Leipzig, making just two starts in all competitions, with manager Julian Nagelsmann having preferred the likes of Lukas Klostermann, Dayot Upamecano, Ibrahima Konate and Marcel Halstenberg in the centre of defence.

If he does move to Craven Cottage, as well as working under former Chelsea player Scott Parker, he will also be playing alongside Michael Hector, who left the Blues back in January on a permanent basis after spending the best part of five and a half years at Stamford Bridge.
