Johnson Prefers Rodgers As His Manager Over Mourinho

Former Chelsea player, Glen Johnson admitted to having a fallout with Mourinho while playing under him. The 29 year old full back, who is now under Brendan Rodgers’ command, seemed really unhappy with the way the Portuguese manager handled his situation.

As the Daily Mail report, Johnson admitted that being coached by Chelsea’s current manager was a part of his career he does not look back on with a smile on his face. He also suggested that Liverpool’s current manager has a totally different take on football which is a lot more suited to the England International’s playing style and character.

Chelsea’s former player who left Stamford Bridge in 2007 to join Portsmouth explained his choice was all about him losing trust in the club’s manager. Mourinho failed to keep his promises and apparently had the habit of trying to manipulate his players instead of sitting down with them to talk.

Johnson’s relationship with the Portuguese manager started going downhill after he was benched before a game against Barcelona. This happened after the defender got the title of best player of the game two times in a row. Apparently, not playing him before Chelsea faced the Catalans gave Mourinho a reason to drop the English international which was the plan all along, regardless of how hell he performed.

Despite this unpleasant incident, Johnson still considers Mourinho as one of the best in the business. He even said that Liverpool are now pretty close to the team the Portuguese manager had put together when winning two Premier League titles.

Johnson won the Premier League and the League Cup while managed by Mourinho which is probably the reason why he only spoke about the Barcelona incident so late after leaving Stamford Bridge.
