Joe Cole Makes Bold Champions League Prediction As He Backs Surprise Name To Score Chelsea’s Winning Goal

Former Chelsea star Joe Cole is backing Timo Werner to come up with the winning goal in extra time when the Blues face Manchester City in the Champions League final tonight.

The German international has had a torrid debut season in front of goal for the London club, having hit the back of the net just six times in the league, but Cole feels he will come up with the goods when it matters most:

“I’m going to go with 1-1 at full-time. And I’m going last moments of extra time, Chelsea on the break, Manchester City have dominated possession, Timo Werner goes and sticks it in. 2-1 Chelsea in extra time.”

It would certainly feel like redemption if Werner were to score the winner. A lot was expected of the 25-year-old when he arrived from RB Leipzig last summer, but his poor finishing has let him down on numerous occasions.

There has been an element of bad luck in terms of the number of goals that have been ruled out for offside or infringements, but even so, he will be disappointed by his goal return so far. Hopefully, as Cole says, he can somewhat make up for that this evening.
