Joe Cole Explains Why Hudson Odoi Should Be Looking To Christian Pulisic For Inspiration

Ex-Chelsea star Joe Cole thinks Callum Hudson-Odoi can still make some improvements to his game despite putting in another good performance against Malmo last night.

The 20-year-old provided the assist for Hakim Ziyech’s winner in Sweden but Cole feels he still lacks the ability to make forward runs off the ball; something he says is a key strength of teammate Christian Pulisic:

“He (Hudson-Odoi) played and he run in behind. Once he adds that more to his game, the running off the ball [he’ll become a bigger threat]. Like Pulisic does; Pulisic came on for 15 minutes and made three or four runs and nearly got his goal.”

It will be interesting to see what manager Thomas Tuchel does now Pulisic is fit and ready to play. The American will be going up against Hudson-Odoi for a place in the starting eleven so we will have to find out who is favoured by the Blues boss in upcoming matches.

Considering his great form recently, you would back Hudson-Odoi to keep his place in the side for now but there will be rotation over the coming weeks, especially as we head into a very busy festive period.
