James Out And Kovacic In: Chelsea’s Predicted XI To Face Southampton

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard switched to three at the back against Lille, but it is fair to say that they played their best football after going to a back four later in the game.

For that reason, Reece James may miss out against Southampton tomorrow. Cesar Azpilicueta is a more a defensive right-back and playing away at St Mary’s may see him moved away from the centre of defence to fullback.

Andreas Christensen could come in for Kurt Zouma, although the Frenchman’s good second-half performance midweek may see him keep his place in the side.

A switch to a back four will likely mean another body in midfield so Mateo Kovacic could return to the side alongside Jorginho and N’Golo Kante. Ross Barkley is also a possible option if Lampard wants to be more attack-minded.

After his goal against Lille, Willian will probably start ahead of Pedro, with Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham keeping their places in the frontline.

Chelsea’s Predicted XI To Face Southampton:

Kepa, Azpilicueta, Zouma, Tomori, Alonso, Kovacic, Jorginho, Kante, Willian, Abraham, Mount
