Jacob Steinberg Reveals Controversial Reason Why Luis Enrique Is No Longer Frontrunner For Chelsea Job

Luis Enrique made “several demands” that led to him falling down the list of contenders to become Chelsea’s next manager, according to The Guardian‘s Jacob Steinberg.

It is believed that the Spaniard made certain requests in talks with the club’s hierarchy a couple of weeks ago and that has led to the Blues having “doubts” over whether he is suitable for the job.

Enrique is, therefore, unlikely to be appointed when Chelsea’s recruitment process has been completed. Former Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann remains the standout candidate but other names are also still under consideration.

Mauricio Pochettino has been contacted by the club, along with Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim, although the latter is also thought to be an outsider as he is reluctant to leave his current team.

At the moment, it appears to be a straight fight between Nagelsmann and Pochettino, with Enrique having seemingly talked his way out of contention.
