The Serbian international Branislav Ivanovic has established himself in the heart of Chelsea’s defense over the last few seasons. His versatility has been key in him cementing his place in the team, as he has been deployed and has performed efficiently anywhere across the back four. He put in numerous solid performances over the last season and was the match winner in Chelsea’s Europa League final against Benfica.

The 29-year old’s stock has risen gradually and is now being courted by a host of clubs who are taking a keen interest in him. French moneybags Paris Saint-Germain are understood to be leading the pack, as they are trying to bring him to France and involve him in their massive rebuilding project as they go about looking for the holy grail of Europe – the UEFA Champions League.

They have already spent a fortune over the past two years and have brought in world class players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva, Lucas Moura and now Edinson Cavani. They are also expected to add to the quality in their squad this summer even more. They are showing no signs of stopping there, as Daily Mail understands that they now want Ivanovic to join them in the French capital.

Newly installed manager Laurent Blanc has identified him as a key component in his new look side for next season, however the stumbling block in this deal is the fact that he has carved out a role for Ivanovic as a right-back and not as his favored center-back position.
