“It’s True…” Di Marzio Reveals Chelsea And United Are Pursuing Serie A Star But He May Cost As Much As £44M

Chelsea and Manchester United are both “keen” on buying Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, according to Sky Sport Italia reporter Gianluca Di Marzio.

The usually reliable journalist has confirmed previous reports that the Blues are targeting the Cameroon international, although he says Inter are not open to a player exchange:

“It’s true that Manchester United and Chelsea are keen on him, and also that Inter don’t want Kepa as part of a swap deal, but above all, I don’t think that the figures I’ve seen reported in terms of fees would be enough to convince them.”

There have been rumours that Inter would be willing to part ways with Onana for €40m (£35m) this summer, but Di Marzio has said the Nerazzurri would demand at least €10m more:

“I think Inter would only sacrifice Onana for a fee of around €50 million, or higher than €50 million, they’ve made that clear to all interested.”

Onana is believed to be just one of the options that Chelsea are looking at as they seek a new number one goalkeeper. Brentford’s David Raya, Borussia Dortmund shot-stopper Gregor Kobel and Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili are reportedly the other names on their shortlist.

None of those would probably cost as much as €50m (£44m) so it looks certain that Inter has priced the London club out of a move for Onana.
