Chelsea will make a bid of £40m plus Olivier Giroud for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, according to reports in the English media
There have been claims that the Blues have already had a £34m offer rejected for the 23-year-old, but this latest proposal is significantly higher. Supporters on Twitter are not sure whether such a high bid for the Frenchman is a good idea:
Isn’t that way too much

Decent striker but not the answer we are looking for. Werner is a future superstar and we are looking past him.Chelsea are blind.

I'll take this guy ahead of every other striker Chelsea has been linked with.
Chelsea should've signed him when he was at Celtic.

Dembele’s form since he moved to Lyon from Celtic eighteen months ago has been patchy. He has scored 32 goals in 72 appearances, but he has not always been a regular starter.
This campaign, he has scored 10 goals in 18 league games but he had not scored since November before bagging a brace in the 7-0 thrashing of minnows Bourg-en-Bresse in the French Cup earlier this month.
Dembele also did not score in six Champions League group games this season, but his goal record in both France and Scotland shows he is a reliable finisher, who would provide decent competition for Tammy Abraham.
