Is Chelsea Ready To Sell?

What once sounded impossible is now looking more and more achievable. Hazard’s transfer to Real Madrid looks closer and closer as rumors of his departure from Chelsea are showing up all over the place. According to ESPN Zidane’s fondness of the left winger has led the press to conjure up a series of possible moves that will allow Chelsea’s former top scorer to leave Stamford Bridge this summer. His lack of form is no longer associated with Mourinho as most of the players who failed to meet expectations under the Special One have turned things around under Hiddink. Most say that Hazard will not come back stronger as some expected at some point. He looks like the type of player in need of a change, a change that will revamp his career. His situation is pretty similar to that of Fabregas who played well but was unable to recover from a moral point of view until he joined a different club.

The question that should be answered before even considering a move is if Chelsea’s future manager could turn things around for Hazard. There would be no point in selling a player of his quality just because of a failed season. Unfortunately, it`s hard to predict what can happen given the fact that so many managers are linked to the Blues. Personality wise, none of the speculated individuals look like the kind of managers who would stick with a player just because he was great at some point. Neither Conte, Simeone, Allegri nor Deschamps have the profile needed to help someone like Hazard. The biggest saying in all of this will be attributed to Abramovich of course which is probably why the Belgium International will not leave though.

Even if rumors say he could be swapped with James Rodriguez, there’s little chance of that happening. Why? Because of Abramovich mostly and because Hazard is now valued at £65million without taking into consideration the fact that he is under contract for the next 4 years. Real Madrid, although without any financial boundaries, are very likely to limit their investments this summer. Ronaldo still has two years left to play, Bale, Rodriguez, Kroos, Kovacic are just settling in and Jese is growing and improving with each game.

Moving to Real Madrid would not do too much good when it comes to Hazard. His form is not in any way at the level needed to push Ronaldo out of the starting eleven meaning he will spend most of the season on the bench. That will not help him recover. The only option right now is to get as much help as he can get from the entire staff. Even with a season in which he scored just twice, he still deserves a chance. One more season with a different manager should be enough to figure out if he is a good fit for Chelsea.
