“I’m A Massive Fan” Glen Johnson Gives His Take As Chelsea Eye Move For Rudiger’s Successor

Ex-Chelsea right-back Glen Johnson thinks his former club will be making a good decision if they sign Wesley Fofana from Leicester City.

Reports in the French press last month claimed that the Blues had already been in contact with the 20-year-old’s agent, and Johnson says he likes the look of the defender:

“I do rate Wesley Fofana. Big time. He’s a young lad with a lot to learn but I think he looks great. He’s super athletic and intelligent on the ball so, for me, I’m a massive fan. If he becomes available then I doubt Chelsea will be the only team interested in him.”

As Johnson indicates, there will be other clubs keen on signing Fofana. The player actually suggested six teams he would like to join in a recent interview, naming Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City among his options.

Whether Chelsea will actually make a former bid for the centre-back, we shall have to wait and see. He is likely being eyed as a potential replacement for Antonio Rudiger, whose contract is set to expire next summer.

If the German international does opt to leave on a free transfer, Thomas Tuchel’s side may well step up their efforts to sign Fofana.
