Ian Wright Claims These Two Chelsea Players Must Start Against Arsenal

BBC pundit Ian Wright believes Chelsea manager Graham Potter should name captain Cesar Azpilicueta and left-back Ben Chilwell in his starting eleven when they face Arsenal this weekend.

The Blues conceded four goals against Brighton and Wright feels that Potter should be looking to reinforce the backline against the Gunners:

“What Graham Potter has to do now to stop that bleeding quickly and you want to show the fans that, especially at home, that I’m going to make it solid and get us playing well so we can put pressure on an Arsenal side that start very well but maybe they fade. So, you want to keep them at bay and then go for them in the second half. He’s got the players to do that in respect to Chilwell and Azpilicueta making it more solid.”

Azpilicueta was an unused substitute at the Amex last Saturday and he has been in and out of the lineup since Potter’s arrival at Stamford Bridge.

Chilwell, meanwhile, hasn’t been able to hit his best form since returning from a serious knee injury. There have been one or two decent displays from the 25-year-old this season, most notably versus West Ham where he scored and provided an assist in a 2-1 win, but he has, on the whole, been rather underwhelming.

Wright is, though, right to point out that their experience and defensive qualities could prove very useful when they face Arsenal, who possess a wealth of attacking talent.
