“I Thought He Was Really Poor…” Pundit Slams Chelsea Summer Signing After United Performance

ESPN pundit Stewart Robson has singled out Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling for criticism after his display against Manchester United.

The 27-year-old was signed for £47.5m in the summer, but Robson says the winger contributed very little despite getting into some “good positions” in the final third of the pitch on Saturday evening:

“When you see Sterling played for Chelsea [on Saturday], I thought he was really poor. He got himself in some good positions, but his final decisions and actual control weren’t particularly good. He wasn’t making the right runs.”

Sterling was recruited to make a difference in these sort of games but his poor touch when the Blues had to chance to attack with Raphael Varane down injured, summed up his evening.

It is rather concerning that the England international has no goals and just one assist in his last six matches, and there have to be questions asked about whether manager Graham Potter may have to drop him from the starting lineup.

Christian Pulisic has looked impressive when given opportunities from the bench and, on current form, you would have to say that the American international deserves to be ahead of Sterling in the pecking order.
