Chelsea are interested in signing Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, according to reports in the Italian media.
The Blues have joined Manchester United and Tottenham in pursuing the Cameroon international, who has been capped 34 times by his country. Onana has had a decent first season for Inter after joining the Serie A side on a free transfer from Ajax but fans on Twitter are not convinced that he would be much of an upgrade on Edouard Mendy, who is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer:
I hope we don’t sign him.

Worse then Kepa and Mendy. Unnecessary signing imo.

He doesn’t bring anything different from what we currently have.

It’s likely that Onana is just one of the keepers that Chelsea are looking at as a potential number one. Brentford’s David Raya, Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel, Brighton’s Robert Sanchez and Porto’s Diogo Costa have also been suggested as possible targets.
As some supporters have said, though, the key is finding a player who would be an improvement on Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga. It is up for debate whether Onana or any of the other goalkeepers mentioned come into that category.
