“I Don’t Think Anyone Can Help Him” BBC Pundit Claims 47.5M Chelsea Star Is A Lost Cause

BBC pundit Garth Crooks believes Chelsea forward Timo Werner is unlikely to turn out to be a successful signing for the Blues after witnessing his performance against Manchester City at the weekend.

The German international replaced Mason Mount in the starting lineup on Saturday, but failed to make an impact on the game. Crooks feels he lacks composure in front of goal and he has written off the striker’s chances of turning his career around at Stamford Bridge:

“In the past, I thought Werner might be the better option given the way Thomas Tuchel likes his teams to play but it would appear the German international suffers from acute stage fright and I don’t think anyone can help him.”

They are pretty harsh words from Crooks. Werner wasn’t the worst performing player versus City and he made a number of good forwards runs but he lacked service.

However, there is no doubt that the 25-year-old has been a major disappointment since he arrived from RB Leipzig for £47.5m in 2020. His inconsistent finishing has been a major bone of contention over the past twelve months, and it seems those who are waiting for him to regain his confidence may be in for a long wait.
