Mourinho was long being tipped to make a return to Stamford Bridge, even months before last season got over. His relationship with the Real Madrid hierarchy and the fans deteriorated at an alarming rate during the last few months of his tenure in the Spanish capital.

He then returned to London as soon as last season was over and he revealed his delight to come back to Chelsea. He was not the only one who came from Madrid to Chelsea, as his loyal charge Michael Essien too ended his year long loan-deal with the Galacticos and returned to the English giants.

Mourinho and Essien are reunited for the third time now and are looking to further strengthen their bond. Essien spoke to the local media and revealed that he was perhaps one of the first people to know about Mourinho’s decision to quit Real Madrid and return to Chelsea.

Metro reports that Essien learnt of the move back to Chelsea during a Real Madrid game, as he scored a goal and rushed to celebrate it with Mourinho, who leaned over and told Essien about his decision. He said, “When I scored my last goal for Real Madrid on the last day of the season, I ran over to celebrate with him [Mourinho] and was expecting him to congratulate me when I hugged him,”

“Instead he leaned over and said: ‘See you at pre-season training on July 8′. I found that so funny.”

“We are now back together where we belong and where we had so many beautiful years together and I hope we can recreate those magical years.”

With the duo working together for yet another time, many odds are in their favor to help forge a winning combination to win as many trophies as possible for the Blues next season.
