Hulk Could Pick Chelsea After Brazilian Tour

Hulk’s agent has revealed that the player’s future will gain more clarity after the ongoing FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil, where the Zenit St. Petersburg striker is representing the home side.

Roman Abramovich has been looking to bolster his side with firepower up front, and has targeted multiple strikers in this summer’s transfer market. However, as reported earlier, they seem to have lost out on one of their prime targets in Napoli’s Edinson Cavani, who seems to have finalized the decision of picking Real Madrid over the Blues. Incoming manager Jose Mourinho had his mind set on Cavani leading his attack line, but the striker’s decision has forced the Portuguese to look elsewhere for options.

Another target, who let slip from Chelsea’s hands, was former Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao, who chose to make a much publicized switch to cash-rich French side Monaco. Falcao’s contractual situation was the subject of complication, and caused Chelsea to lose on another strike target.

Chelsea have already completed the signing of Andre Schurrle from German side Bayer Leverkusen. The presence of Eden Hazard and Juan Mata in the side will assist Schurrle’s entry into the squad, and will provide quality delivery to the German.

Hulk has had a controversial one year at Zenit, with reports of players being unhappy about his high wage. The striker also had a reported rift with the club’s coach Luciano Spalletti, and is keen on leaving the club in this window.

The issue standing between Hulk and a new side is the transfer fee. The Brazilian made his way from Porto to Zenit for a reported £50 million, and the latter would want the majority of the fee to be recovered in Hulk’s next move. Chelsea will have to make a decision quickly, as their reluctance to match the required transfer fee has already cost them one transfer target in Falcao.

Monaco are strengthening their side quickly and swiftly, and if Chelsea do not act soon, the French side could make a move for Hulk.

According to SkySports, the agent, Jose Caldeira said, “We can’t announce anything at the moment, the player is focusing on the Confederations Cup and nothing will be made official during this period,”

“France is a possibility, but there are others. Everything is possible.”
