Hudson-Odoi Says He Will Not Rush Into Deciding Chelsea Future

Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi says he is not impatient about getting first-team opportunities at Stamford Bridge.

The 18-year-old reportedly handed in a transfer request to force through a move to Bayern Munich in January, only for the Blues to refuse to sell him.

Speaking ahead of what could be his full debut for England against Montenegro tonight, Hudson-Odoi has claimed he is willing to bide his time for first-team chances.

“I’m not impatient. Obviously, I’m always keen to play football, I love the game. But at times you’ve got to be patient and wait for your chance to come and hopefully, many more will come.”

“I always have the same mentality no matter the age group – 18s, 21s, the first team. I still have the same mentality, I’m not going to change because I’ve had one game with the first team.”

“I’m still going to have the same mentality – go over there, be humble, be the same way, work hard as always, and hopefully if I go there I’ll keep being confident and keep being myself.”

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has yet to start the teenager in the Premier League but he has 24 appearances in all competitions under the Italian this season.

Still, Hudson-Odoi appears to be unwilling to sign a new deal to remain at the Blues, suggesting game time may well be an issue.

If that is the case, Blues supporters will be hoping that the club offer the player more starts between now and the end of next season when his current contract is due to expire.
