How Chelsea Could Get The Most Out Of Their 200M Budget By Signing These FOUR Players

At the end of last month, trusted journalist Matt Law reported that Chelsea were willing to spend up to £200m on new recruits this summer.

With that in mind, we have attempted to put a shortlist together of transfer targets that the Blues could pursue within the budget that has been set.

We have left the most high profile signing to last so don’t worry if you are slightly underwhelmed by the first few names on the list but they could all strengthen areas of the squad that need to be reinforced. Press the next page as we go through the four signings Chelsea could make in the summer transfer window.

Jonas Hofmann – £12m

The German winger would be an unfashionable signing but both the German and English press have been linking him with a move to Stamford Bridge over the past few months.

Hofmann is now 28 but he has recently broken into the German national team squad, and his flexibility is likely one of the main reasons why manager Thomas Tuchel is a big fan. He can play as a wingback, central midfielder or as a forward, making him an excellent utility player.

Niklas Sule – £25m

Reports in Germany in recent days have suggested that Tuchel has cooled his interest in the Bayern Munich defender but reliable journalist David Ornstein has said that the 25-year-old is being looked at by Chelsea.

Sule has one year remaining on his contract, so he would be relatively cheap, and he is still pretty young so he could fill the gap when Thiago Silva moves on from Stamford Bridge.

Aurelien Tchouameni – £34.5m

Declan Rice would clearly be Chelsea’s priority for the central midfield role, but with the cost of the transfer likely to be above £100m, the West Ham vice-captain seems like an unrealistic signing, for this summer at least.

Tchouameni has just come off the back of an excellent season with Monaco, and Blues scouts have been tracking his progress for well over a year so a bid in the coming weeks should not be ruled out.

Erling Haaland (£130m + Abraham or Hudson-Odoi)

The Norwegian international is apparently open to moving to Chelsea so that means the London club may push ahead with a formal offer for the striker. They may not be able to match Dortmund’s asking price but they do have players who could be used in part exchange.

Tammy Abraham is the name that has been bandied around over the last day or so, but there is no indication that Dortmund would be interested in the 23-year-old. Callum Hudson-Odoi, on the other hand, is a player who has been linked with the Bundesliga side recently, so if Chelsea want to get Haaland, the winger may need to be sacrificed.
