How Chelsea Continue Their Genius In The Transfer Market With Bid For England International Next

There have been many reports of Chelsea struggling to land their targets in this transfer window but if you look at their rivals’ transfer buys so far and it is clear to see that only Man City have even come close to Chelsea in terms of buying quality world-class players. It is important to note that Man City had far more problem positions in their squad to address than title winners Chelsea.

While Romelu Lukaku may have been hotly rumoured to be the preferred choice of striker for the Blues it actually seems as though Chelsea have secured their genuine first choice striker in Alvaro Morata. While Lukaku has lots of Premier League experience, Alvaro Morata is a proven winner. Morata has the following honours on his CV: two La Liga title wins in 2011–12 and 2016–17, two UEFA Champions League wins in 2013–14 and 2016–17, two Copa del Rey’s, one UEFA Super Cup and one FIFA Club World Cup all won with Real Madrid; and in addition Morata has two Serie A wins in 2014–15, 2015–16 and 2 Coppa Italia wins and a Supercoppa Italiana all with Juventus.

So it is clear to see that Morata is a winner with his 13 winning medals while Lukaku has one Belgiam League title from 2009-10 to his name. Manchester United and Chelsea both signed excellent 24 year old strikers but you would have to say Chelsea have the better man especially when you consider that Morata has dealt with the pressure and expectation of playing for top clubs throughout his career while playing for a truly top club will be a new experience for Lukaku.

Naturally the signing of Morata to replace the grumpy and ungrateful Diego Costa has grabbed the most headlines but Chelsea have also addressed the other issues around their squad. The Blues signed defensive midfielder Tiemoué Bakayoko from Monaco to replace the soon to be outgoing Nemanja Matic, they signed centre-back Antonio Rudiger from Roma to replace outgoing Captain John Terry and also signed goalkeeper Willy Caballero from Man City to replace the outgoing Asmir Begovic.

Chelsea as well as Man United have been long-time admirers of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and with the young England international going into the last year of his contract the time is now to make a move for the starlet. As we have reported before the Southampton academy product is still only 23 years old at the time of writing but will be 24 by the time the season starts. The point is that Oxlade-Chamberlain is still a very young man with his best years very much ahead of him. The midfielder has already got six seasons in the Premier League under his belt plus lots of Champions League experience as well as 27 caps for England as a full international.

The interesting thing about the Ox is that his goal output is increasing with him notching a career high 6 goals for Arsenal last season along with a goal for England in World Cup qualifying. So it is clear to see that the career of the son of former England international Mark Chamberlain is only getting better and signing Chamberlain junior could be a very good move for Chelsea as he can play in a wide attacking position, as a wing-back or in his preferred position of central midfield.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is looking for more first team starts at this stage in his career so Chelsea will have their work cut out for them convincing the player that they will be able to provide more starts for him than he would get at Arsenal or Man United under Jose Mourinho. However, the Ox might relish a change of scenery from the staid methods of Arsene Wenger and moving to play under the dynamic, passionate and flamboyant winning approach of Antonio Conte might be a move which could really appeal to a player who still has massive bucket-loads of potential.

Manchester United were interested in Oxlade-Chamberlain when Arsenal first signed him and it is possible that their’s is a real interest this time around. United were looking for a wide-man according to the various reports about their pursuit of Ivan Perišić from Milan but Chelsea would seem to have the upper hand on this one as Chamberlain turned down United once so would likely do so again preferring to stay on London.

Liverpool are yet another side to be linked with the in-demand Englishman as it is believed that Jurgen Klopp feels Chamberlain would be a good fit in his up-tempo brand of high intensity football where he likes pace particularly upfront. Liverpool are yet to table an offer but will be watching what Chelsea do with interest and don’t be surprised if you read about a bid going into Arsenal for the services of Chamberlain from the Merseyside club.

The suggested fee for the England midfielder is reportedly £25million which would see Arsenal double their money and is not a bad fee but Chelsea will likely be looking to improve the deal. The clubs are seemingly both open to a deal so it is possibly only a matter of price assuming the Blues can beat out the other teams lining up for Oxlade-Chamberlain.

We shall see but based on recent history we might just be seeing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain wearing a blue shirt in the upcoming season as Chelsea usually sign the players they pursue.
