‘Hopefully He Starts’ ‘Good To Hear’ Chelsea Fans Delighted As Tuchel Confirms Fitness Boost Ahead Of Spurs Clash

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has revealed that Timo Werner should be on the bench when Chelsea face Tottenham in the Carabao Cup this evening.

The German international has had a long spell out with the virus, having last played against Leeds in the 3-2 win last month, but Tuchel says he is now close to full fitness:

“Timo Werner trained yesterday, we have one more session to go and he feels much better which is a really good sign. He took part in full training, at full intensity and had no reaction at all. If today’s training goes well for him then we will look to have him on the bench and maybe give him some minutes.”

Most supporters on Twitter are happy to hear that Werner will be back in the squad tonight, with some even hoping that he will be given the nod to start:

It will probably be too much to ask for Werner to play more than 20 to 30 minutes against Spurs but it will, at least, give Tuchel another option going forward.

While the 25-year-old often struggles with his finishing, he does add another dimension to the Blues’ attack, with his pace troubling even the best defences in the division. Hopefully, he won’t take too long to get up to speed.
