Hoddle Gives His Prediction For When This Young Chelsea Side Could Win The League

Former Chelsea player and manager Glenn Hoddle expects Frank Lampard’s young side to be competing for the Premier League title inside of two years.

The Blues sit third in the table currently, eight points off leaders Liverpool, and while he doesn’t think the London club will be ready to win the league this season, the TV pundit isn’t expecting a long wait before they are ready to make a challenge:

“The one key thing is when you put youngsters in they’ve got to be good enough, and these guys are good enough. There’s five of them there that I think in two years time they’re going to be ready to win the league.”

“I really do feel that there’s a foundation, building blocks there to really go on and become something special.”

There were even question marks from some quarters over whether Lampard could guide Chelsea to a top-four finish this season, particularly after the 4-0 opening day defeat to Manchester United.

However, the Blues legend has really hit the ground running as manager at Stamford Bridge. Just two losses in 12 league games is a huge achievement taking into account the young teams that he has been fielding.

Considering the talent that is coming through the ranks at Chelsea, though, perhaps it isn’t a surprise that the club has been performing so well.
