Higuain Reveals What He Knows About Hazard’s Madrid Move

Chelsea striker Gonzalo Higuain has said Eden Hazard has not asked him about life in Madrid despite the midfielder being heavily linked with a move to the Bernabeu.

The Argentine played for Real between 2007 and 2013, and although he says his teammate hasn’t explicitly stated he wants to leave, he doesn’t believe much can be done about the player’s future:

“What can I tell you? Those are things that involve the club executives and the desire of the player. When a player has a desire, it is difficult to change his mind…”

“Here what matters is Eden’s decision and the decision of the board. I cannot do anything. He has not asked me [about life in Madrid] but if it’s what makes him happy, I wish him the best. I hope he can stay.”

With Maurizio Sarri having said pretty much the same thing, it does appear both the manager and the players are increasingly resigned to Hazard leaving for Spain in the summer.

The 28-year-old was superb against West Ham last night, scoring both goals in a 2-0 win, but Hammers fans could be heard chanting that he was moving to Madrid.

When asked about the singing after the game, Hazard said they were wrong, although he stopped short of committing his future to Chelsea beyond the end of the season.

The Belgian’s contract expires in 2020, and with no new deal on the horizon, the summer will be the last chance for the Blues to sell him for a significant fee.
