Chelsea are interested in signing Barcelona centre-back Ronald Araujo, according to reports in the Spanish media.
The Uruguayan international has just eighteen months left on his contract at the Camp Nou and Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is believed to be a big fan of the player.
Supporters on Twitter had a mixed reaction to the story, with some believing he would be an excellent addition to the squad, while others were far less enthusiastic:
He’s an amazing prospect tbh, really really solid with recover pace at his age, but Colwill is as well.

He's so so good, but god damn, he gets injured with minimum contact, I swear he injured himself after celebrating a goal just a few days ago💀💀💀

Rather get Christensen signed up then look at our options. If Rudiger leaves we'd need a left footed CB

Araujo is only 22 years of age but he has firmly established himself as a regular starter for Barca over the past year or so. Chelsea are not the only club keeping tabs on the player’s contract situation, though, with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United having also been linked in the English press over the last few days.
In terms of Chelsea’s interest, a new defender is likely to be on the club’s agenda, with four centre-halves (including Antonio Rudiger) having deals that expire at the end of the season.
