Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante put in an astounding display against Liverpool in the European Super Cup last night. Despite losing on penalties, the Frenchman was the game’s standout performer.
Before the match, manager Frank Lampard had questioned whether the 27-year-old would be fit for the game, but he was clearly ready to play, performing to the highest level for the full 120 minutes.

Lampard must have been playing mind games before the match by questioning Kante’s fitness as the Frenchman had so much energy, winning tackles and setting up attacks.
The France international did not feature in pre-season due to a knee injury, and it was all the way back in May when he started his last competitive match, in the Europa League final win against Arsenal.
Kante will be integral to the team going forward and every supporter will be glad he is back to full fitness.
