Henry Urges Chelsea Legend Drogba To Join MLS

Henry followed in the footsteps of David Beckham by agreeing a switch to MLS after Barcelona agreed to sell him to New York Red Bulls in the summer of 2010. Following Henry’s arrival, a number of European players have decided to move to North America to play in the lucrative MLS in the latter stages of their career.

The next top player to make a move to the MLS could be none other than Blues legend Drogba, who is out of contract at the end of the season. The forward had a short stint in China before settling in Turkey following his exit from Stamford Bridge and, according to the Daily Star, Henry wants him to make his next move to MLS in the summer.

However, if reports emanating from England are to be believed, Mourinho wants Drogba to return to Chelsea as a striker’s coach so as to help develop the next crop of strikers. There are also suggestions that the Ivory Coast international could return as a forward and not as a coach.

However, Drogba will have to take a significant pay-cut to his reported £100,000-a-week contract if he chooses to join the Blues as a coach. On the other hand, a switch to MLS will be more enticing as he will earn close to his current deal.
