Henderson Identifies Two Chelsea Players That He’s Been Impressed Most By This Season

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson says that Chelsea pair Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham have both impressed him with their performances so far this season.

The Blues face the Merseysiders at Stamford Bridge this weekend, and when asked about the quality of their opponents,  Henderson said Mount, in particular, has the potential and mentality to play at the top level:

“They’ve got huge potential with the likes of Mason already training for England, I can see he’s got the right mentality to play football. Technically he’s very good.

“Everyone can see that he’s hungry to be a very good player and is a very exciting prospect. He’s started the season very well along with Tammy [Abraham].”

Mount remains a doubt for the game tomorrow after picking up an ankle injury in the 1-0 defeat to Valencia on Tuesday. Francis Coquelin’s strong challenge forced the 20-year-old off early in the first half midweek.

Manager Frank Lampard says there is a chance that the midfielder will be fit to face Liverpool, but he will leave it until just before the game to make a decision.

Lampard will be taking a risk if he picks Mount for such a big game if he isn’t 100% fit, but it shows how quickly the midfielder has become an important member of the first team.
