Chelsea starlet Ethan Ampadu has had to bide his time for opportunities during his loan spell at RB Leipzig but he was given a start by manager Julian Nagelsmann in the Bundesliga side’s impressive 1-0 win over Tottenham on Wednesday.
The 19-year-old was one of the standout performers on the night, and supporters on Twitter are hoping he gets a chance in the London club’s first team when he returns to the Blues next summer:
He was truly outstanding

Superb Performance ???
You love to see it:)— it's Chelsea ting (@Talented1ones) 19 February 2020
If we sell Kanté or Jorginho in the summer then we shouldn’t look at a new young replacement. Ampadu is imo good enough to play for us next season. Think he have developed a lot this season under Nagelsmann who’s one of the best up and coming coaches in the world football

His passing range from deep seems excellent. His future lies as a DLP in my opinion – could do very well learning from Jorginho.

Should be in our squad next season.

There was talk that Ampadu could be recalled after a disappointing lack of match action. He has played just seven times this season, with his only two starts coming in the Champions League.
Whether his impressive display during the week will force Nagelsmann to start him against Schalke tomorrow evening, we shall have to wait and see, but on the evidence of his performance against Spurs, he is certainly deserving of a lot more game time.
