Chelsea defender David Luiz is poised to sign for Arsenal after an £8m fee was agreed between the two clubs, according to reports. The Brazilian has decided that he wants to switch to the London rivals in order to get more first-team football.
When news of the reported deal surfaced yesterday, it was a shock to many, and a number of Blues supporters on Twitter have been summing up their feelings about the surprise transfer:
he just ruined his legacy with us

Arsenal is a better destination because of his restaurant business

You don't need to defend him even he doesn't really care about defending anything.
Just say Thank you and good bye.
As far as selling to direct rival is concerned remember how following turned out
Mata n Matic to UTD
Galllas to AFC
Chec to AFC
This one is more of the same— Kaustubh (@kdj2108) 8 August 2019
I would rather have sold him to another european club but oh well. Suprising that he is so willingly ruining his Chelsea legacy by moving to Arsenal.

No one should defend the indefensible. I've been a big supporter of Luiz, even in his worst moments however this says everything you need to know about him. The timing, choice of club and behaviour.
Good riddance— IanCohen (@coe62) 8 August 2019
Really surprised he’s doing this. He’s not the best defender we’ve had but he’s always gave his all whenever he’s played. I’m actually disappointed the way this has ended up. Pictures like this make it quite sad pic.twitter.com/FTa3RovUCQ

Could've learnt a thing or 2 from Paulo Ferreira or JT. Remember Cahill last season and the uproar. Good that Luiz is getting shipped out and after receiving a 2yr contract. Cheerio.

There is no honor or loyalty to clubs nowadays ,,,players are simply looking for the greener pastures that match their needs

Sorry to see Luiz leave particularly at this late stage and when we are unable to replace. Good leader on and off the field. However, credit to Lamps on this, as he knows how unsettling this could be for the rest of the squad if he stays.

It seems that manager Frank Lampard’s decision to omit Luiz from the starting line up against Borussia Monchengladbach last weekend led to the 32-year-old wanting out of Stamford Bridge.
The Brazilian was worried he would not be a regular starter, reportedly leading to Lampard to remove him from the first-team squad following a number of incidents in training this week.
It is now believed that Chelsea will head into the season with Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma as the first-choice centre-back partnership, at least until Antonio Rudiger returns from injury.
