Hazard Wins First Chelsea Award

As reported by Yahoo! Eurosport, Eden Hazard has won the first personal accolade of his Chelsea career, as the Belgian winger was chosen as the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Young Player Of The Year on Sunday.

Hazard has been injured of late for Chelsea with a calf injury, but has been a big contributor in the club’s attempts to win the Barclays Premier League title and other trophies. The Blues took a big step towards ending the campaign with the trophy in their hands as they beat rivals Liverpool at Anfield in an enthralling affair. Jose Mourinho, who has been criticised recently for playing a second string side and ‘parking the bus’, delivered tactically, and has once again proven his worth to the supporters. Hazard was not part of the team on Sunday that featured Demba Ba alongside Andre Schurrle in attack.

The next big test for Chelsea comes at Stamford Bridge as they take on Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi final. Mourinho’s men go into the fixture with a goalless draw in Madrid, leaving them wary of the away goal rule. Chelsea will be bolstered with Hazard’s comeback from injury, and his inclusion could prove to be crucial in the context of the result.
