According to the Telegraph, Chelsea star Eden Hazard is eager to challenge his skills against the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, and has confessed that he will need to score more goals if he intends to become the world’s best player.

Hazard has been in tremendous form this season, scoring 13 Premier League goals in 30 appearances and hence surpassing his last year’s tally well before the end of this season. The Belgian is all set to represent the national side in the up coming FIFA World Cup, and good performances in the competition could increase the player’s value more than it already is. A good World Cup and constant comparisons to Ronaldo and Messi could also prompt Real Madrid and Barcelona to make a move for the player in the summer. Chelsea will have to fight to keep the star at the club, and winning the Premier League or the UEFA Champions League would certainly help in the process.

The 23-year old’s strength has been his ability to get past defenders and dribble the ball to good effect. However, the winger will need to work on his scoring consistency, as Ronaldo and Messi both have a scoring rate of more than a goal-a game this season. The position Hazard plays leaves him at a disadvantage too as Messia and Ronaldo play in “free” roles allowing them to pop up wherever they want which affords them many more chances to score whereas since Hazard is generally deployed in wide areas where he gets less goal chances but given his progress this season you can see Mourinho also giving Hazard a “free” role where he will surely score much more.
