Hazard reveals Ballon d’Or ambition

Chelsea star Eden Hazard says he has no chance of winning the Ballon d’Or award this year with Cristiano Ronaldo on the scene, but did admit he hopes to one day win the award by shining for club and country.

The Belgian believes Ronaldo’s performances last season were too superior to be matched, and that the success he brought to Real Madrid sets him aside from the rest in the world.

“I do not have a chance to win [the Ballon d’Or] and I think a lot of players are better than me,” the Belgian told Sky Sports.

“But I am happy to be listed in the 30 candidates for the award.”

“I think this year Ronaldo deserves it because he won with Portugal, he won LaLiga and he won the Champions League.”

The forward admits he must win all that is on offer if he is to be in with a chance of winning the Ballon d’Or, something that he believes his Chelsea teammates can achieve.

“If I want to win it in the future then I need to win everything [with my club and Belgium].”

“I know I am on this list because I play for Chelsea and because I have great teammates and they help me to be on this list.”

“I do not know if I will have the chance to win it in the future, but it is not my goal now.”

“My goal is to play and be happy with my performances on the pitch.”
