Hazard On Kompany’s Return Against Chelsea

Hazard On Kompany’s Return Against Chelsea

Chelsea are to face City today in what is probably going to be one of the most important matches of the season. Both teams are targeting the Premier League trophy at the end of the season and both have shown great from during their last few fixtures. The Blues have won against Schalke and hope to continue their winning streak.

Mourinho will be able to use all his players except Van Ginkel. Cole has returned to take his spot in Chelsea’s defensive line after a rib injury and will probably start against City.

Pellegrini’s team will have to face the Blues without one of their most important players. Kompany’s presence on the pitch on Sunday is very unlikely because of a thigh injury that has kept him off the field since the beginning of October. According to ESPN, Hazard is very aware of the advantage his team could have if his fellow compatriot will be unavailable. Chelsea’s midfielder, who has played alongside City’s captain several times during Belgium’s international clashes, implied that the Blues will have it easier if Kompany is not fully recovered.

He reminded the press that most of Manchester City’s wins happened with Kompany on the pitch and that his fellow compatriot is very influential. Even if Pellegrini hinted that the Belgian captain could be present on the field on Sunday, Hazard is hoping not to confront the 27 year old defender.

Hazard also spoke about Chelsea’s form during the last few matches. Except for the Blues’ losses against Basel and Everton, the Stamford Bridge team has had constant positive results. The Belgian who is one of Mourinho’s favorite players, is in perfect tune with the team and has a positive attitude towards the City game. Even if Mourinho insisted the match against City is no different form any other match, Hazard hinted that a win at Stamford Bridge will definitely help Chelsea take one more step towards winning the Premier League trophy. He also mentioned the fact that last year was a failure even if they managed to win the Europa League.
