Hazard not at the peak of his career, says Conte

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has assured fans the club is doing its all to tie down the likes of Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard to Stamford Bridge.

The duo have been outstanding throughout their careers at Chelsea, but transfer rumours linking them with moves away often come as a bit of a scare.

It seems likely that they will commit their future to the Blues which is great news for all involved, and Antonio Conte admits it will take a huge weight off his shoulders when they do.

“I will be very happy when they sign their deals. They are great players who have a lot of space for improvement and it will be great to keep them,” said Conte.

“But I don’t think that Eden is at the peak of his career yet. I think he has a lot of improvement [to make]. It’s important for him to work, work, work in every training session to improve himself and then to have this kind of performance.

“You are only at the top when you win the Ballon d’Or the first time, when you win the Champions League or when you win the World Cup. At that moment, you are a great player.”

Speaking after the game against Newcastle, Victor Moses backed Conte’s comments on the forward, saying that the Belgian is a world class player. He also pointed out that he worries for England’s World Cup clash with Belgium, admitting he doesn’t see Gareth Southgate’s men stopping him.

“Eden is enjoying his football. He is doing loads of amazing things. He does it in training as well. Sometimes, he just gets the ball and puts it through your legs without you even knowing.

“He’s a world-class player in top form. He did some amazing stuff today. How will England stop him? That’s going to be hard work.”
