Hazard hoping Giroud proves lucky charm for Chelsea in FA Cup final

Eden Hazard believes Olivier Giroud could be the man to guide Chelsea to FA Cup glory when they take on Manchester United in next month’s final.

Giroud was on-hand to score in the Blues’ 2-0 semi-final victory over Southampton last weekend, taking his total to five since joining the club on transfer deadline day in January.

The victory over Mark Hughe’s side kept alive Giroud remarkable record of never losing at Wembley – and with three FA Cup winners medals already in his trophy case, the Frenchman will no doubt be hoping to add a fourth next month.

Eden Hazard on the other hand will be hoping he can claim his first ever after having lost in last year’s final to Arsenal – and the Belgian international believes Giroud could prove to be the man to help him clinch achieve that.

“I hope that we will win it this time – last year we sadly lost the final,” Hazard said.

“But we have Olivier Giroud now. He often wins finals. Certainly the FA Cup.

“He has qualities. We all know that. Of course, we don’t often see those tricks of him, but it proves that he’s a good player.

“Not only with his header or his physical game, he has other qualities too. Maybe he should score more goals in this way. That would be good.”

Chelsea face Manchester United in the competition’s final on May 19th.
