Hasselbaink Tells Chelsea To Overlook Koulibaly As He Names The Two Centre Backs Lampard Should Sign

Former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says he is keen for the Blues to sign another centre-back in a future transfer window.

Frank Lampard‘s side have looked a lot stronger since both Thiago Silva and Edouard Mendy were introduced into the team but Hasselbaink feels they will need more strength in the backline if they are to challenge at the top of the table.

Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly is widely regarded as one of the best centre-halves in the world but with the player nearing 30, Hasselbaink has pinpointed two younger alternatives that Chelsea should go after:

“A lot of people are talking about Kalidou Koulibaly but he’s 29 years old and would be very expensive. I actually quite like the Leicester defender, Caglar Soyuncu. I think he’d be very good at Chelsea. Also the defender at Inter Milan, Milan Skriniar – everybody is talking about him, another very good player.”

Hasselbaink also believes that the Blues should sign another playmaker, despite already having the likes of Kai Havertz and Mason Mount in the squad. However, reports suggest that the next addition is likely to be a holding midfielder.

West Ham’s Declan Rice is still very much on the club’s radar and an offer for the England international in January cannot be ruled out.
