Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has been told by the club that he can leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, according to reports.
The 31-year-old has failed to agree a new contract and it appears his time with the Blues will be coming to an end in the near future. While there are a few that are happy for Mendy to be sold, most fans on Twitter are disappointed by the news:
Harsh on the big man! He was immense for us when we really needed him. Feel like we should have backed him rather than dump him

Will be a big mistake. Mendy was on a wobble for a little while just like every other goalkeeper but he’s without doubt one of the best in world when on form. He is certainly way better than Kepa!

I always rate Mendy above kepa, he is way better imo

DFKM, Mendy leaves and Kepa stays 😭

Kepa can respectfully follow him, we need proper goalkeepers

Kepa can’t even make simple save and they’re telling Mendy to leave

If mendy leave but kepa stay as no.1 next season nah we got no hope

After Kepa Arrizabalaga’s disappointing display against Everton at the weekend, some supporters are right to point out that the club’s current number one isn’t performing that well either.
However, the decision to offload Mendy seems to be mostly down to his refusal to sign a contract extension. The club’s owners are reluctant to keep any players reaching the final two years of their current deals so it is not a complete surprise that they have decided to make him available for transfer.
