Guus Hiddink In Interim Charge Again

Guus Hiddink In Interim Charge Again

Chelsea turn to Guus Hiddink for help after Jose Mourinho said his goodbyes to the club that was supposed to be his home for the next few years or more. There were a lot of names speculated over the internet but one thing was clear, none of the future managers were available to start right away. Guus Hiddink, despite being a major name in the game, will handle matters at Stamford Bridge until June and is very likely to make way for someone else after that. We will have a lot of time to see who is best suited to take on Chelsea in 2016 but for now let`s take a look at the 69-year-old Dutchman who has been a manager since 1987.

Hiddink is best known for his work with PSV Eindhoven where he spent most of his coaching years. He also made some strange choices along the way taking on teams like South Korea, Australia, Rusia or Anzhi. He managed Turkey and the Netherlands twice which is also the last team he was in charge of. Before Chelsea he spent 10 months coaching his home country’s national team where he failed to impress. Out of 10 games he lost 5 and only won 4. Hopefully the time spent away from football provided inspiration, which is much needed now at Stamford Bridge.

The Dutchman was on an impressive run with the Blues where he spent just 139 days. During this period, he had an amazing record of 16 wins and just 1 defeat in 22 games. If he has the same impact on Chelsea as he did 6 years ago, the Blues can actually hope to make it to the top 6 by the end of the season. According to Sky Sports Hiddink looked very excited to take on this massive challenge and stated that: “”I am looking forward to working with the players and staff at this great club and especially renewing my wonderful relationship with the Chelsea fans. Chelsea is one of the biggest clubs in the world but is not where it should be at the moment. However, I am sure we can all turn this season around. “
