Olivier Giroud has revealed the reason he chose to swap Arsenal for Chelsea.
The Frenchman joined the Blues on deadline of the January transfer window in an £18 million move.
Since the switch, Giroud has bagged three goals, two of which came today as Antonio Conte’s side pulled off a remarkable turnaround from 2-0 against Southampton to win 3-2.
The France international’s sale was questioned by many Arsenal fans, with the striker a fan favourite at the Emirates.
However Giroud says the decision to move to Stamford Bridge was simple.
“Chelsea are a massive club and we want to challenge for the title every single year,” he said.
“Obviously the competition has been the toughest this year — with Man City, Liverpool doing well, Man United, even Arsenal.
“That’s why I love the Premier League, it’s the best championship, it is very hard.
“I am a competitor so hopefully next year we will compete for it.”
