Giroud Hints At Exit From Chelsea And Reveals Two Clubs He’d Consider Moving To

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has said the arrival of Gonzalo Higuain at the Blues puts a question mark over his own future at the club.

Speaking before the Argentine’s move to Stamford Bridge was finalised, the Frenchman said he has not closed the door on moving back to France. He, also, would not rule out playing for either Lyon or Marseille:

“If the club decides to get another striker, like Higuain, it will certainly darken my future at Chelsea. I’ve never said no to a return to France. Lyon and Marseille are two great clubs. My priority is to stay in the Premier League though.”

With Alvaro Morata closing in on a loan switch to Atletico Madrid, manager Maurizio Sarri would likely want to keep Giroud as cover for Higuain.

The former Arsenal forward has started just nine games so far this season for Chelsea, with Eden Hazard having been picked ahead of him in a ‘false nine’ role in recent weeks.

Giroud’s last goal for the Blues came against Vidi in the Europa League last month, but he did provide an assist for Willian in the 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup yesterday evening.
