Future Out Of My Hands – Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku was struggling for opportunities at the London club last season and as a result, he asked to be sent out on loan this season in order to get some valuable playing time. Chelsea understandingly catered to his request and sent him out on loan to fellow English Premier League side West Brom.

The Belgian had a hugely successful loan-spell at The Hawthorns as he scored an incredible 17 league goals during his time there, including the hat-trick on the final day in the pulsating 5-5 draw against champions Manchester United. He became the crowd favorite and developed a very strong relationship with the fans and the club during his stay.

Now that the 20-year old is back at Chelsea, he spoke to the media who asked him about his future, and Sky Sports reported Lukaku admitting that he was himself clueless as to where he will playing his football next season. He said, “It is out of my hands now.”

“I will go to the internationals, go on holiday with my friends and my missus and come back and train hard with my dad and then go to pre-season with Chelsea.”

“We will see what happens. This club will always have a place in my heart. It’s the club that put me in the spotlight and re-launched my career.”

It is very likely that Chelsea will themselves consider keeping him at the club this time around rather than sending him out yet again, given his red hot form for West Brom. The Blues find themselves in a striking crisis, and the injection of Lukaku could be exactly what Chelsea are looking for.

It is expected that they will shake up their attacking personnel over the summer, and the decision to go with their very own player Lukaku up front instead of making a big money purchase from outside could possibly work well for the Blues, given his ready-made experience in English football, along with his know-how of the running of Chelsea Football Club.

Do you think that an internal promotion rather than an external recruitment could help solve Chelsea’s problems?
