Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has praised goalkeeper Edouard Mendy for the start he has made in a Blues shirt since his arrival from Rennes back in September.

The 28-year-old has kept five clean sheets in his first six appearances following his £22m move to Stamford Bridge, and Lampard says the shot-stopper has given his team some much-needed reliability in goal:

“Edouard has come in and from the first game he played, against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup, and the game’s he’s played he’s shown his own security and that’s what we’re striving for. We brought him in for competition and it’s up to the players then to show their own qualities and he’s shown them.”
