Former Chelsea Star Insults Romania Manager Likening Him To Mr Bean

Adrian Mutu was one of the most promising players to set foot in Stamford Bridge. He was among the first footballers who signed with the Blues after Abramovich took over the club and started spending big. He came to London after spending 3 years in Italy where he managed to score 34 times. His debut was nothing short of amazing. He found the adversaries’ net 4 times in his first three matches. He helped Chelsea win against Spurs even though he was not yet acquainted with English football which seemed to fit him very well. As the 2003-2004 season progressed he only scored 2 more times even if he was featured in 27 games.

Unfortunately for Chelsea, Mutu proved to be a handful. The Romanian’s behavior was inappropriate and led to his downfall. His problems started once Mourinho accused him of faking an injury to skip training. As most fans know, the Portuguese boss is very unforgiving with players who don’t give their all no matter the situation. The Blues’ striker later tested positive for cocaine and received one of the longest bans in FA history. He could not play for 7 months and also had to pay a 20 thousand pound fine.

Mutu was also one of the biggest flops in Premier League history. He cost Abramovich 16 million pounds but left for free after the club decided they no longer needed his services and cancelled his contract. Immediately after that Chelsea started seeking retribution but have failed to get their money back until this day. The Romanian’s off pitch behavior has remained a problem ever since. According to the Daily Mail, the striker who is currently with French side, Ajaccio was recently banned from his national team after posting funny pictures that made Romania’s manager, Victor Piturca look bad. Even though Mutu thought by using his Photoshop skills to put an image of Mr Bean’s face on Piturca’s body would make people laugh, he ended up losing his chances to represent his Romanian national team in the future. His childish gesture came as a response to the fact that he was not called in to play in the World Cup qualifier against Greece.
