Five Chelsea Youngsters Who Could Be Next To Become First Team Stars Under Frank Lampard

Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour is the latest youngster to establish himself in the first team under manager Frank Lampard.

With the likes of Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Reece James, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Fikayo Tomori having done the same this season, the question is who will be next to make the breakthrough?

There are a number of players already in the club’s Under 23s, as well as out on loan, who could well catch Lampard’s eye.

Press the “next page” as we look at five youngsters who could be in line for more game time in the not too distant future.

Ethan Ampadu

Just like Mount, Tomori and James, the Wales international was sent out on loan to gain much-needed experience ahead of a possible first-team introduction.

Things haven’t quite gone to plan for Ampadu while he has been with RB Leipzig, but he has impressed when given a chance, such as the first leg of the German club’s Champions League tie against Spurs.

Tino Anjorin

The attacking midfielder was given his league debut by Lampard only last week against Everton, and he is reportedly close to signing a new long-term contract with the club.

Anjorin could offer an alternative option to the likes of Mount and Ross Barkley, and provide the Blues with another goal threat from midfield.

Marc Guehi

The centre-back has captained the Under 23s and has already featured a number of times for England’s Under 21s. He has, though, found it tough going since joining Swansea on loan in January.

Guehi will need to make a stronger impact, much like Tomori did at Derby, in order to have a stronger claim for more first-team opportunities at Stamford Bridge next season.

Conor Gallagher

After impressing at Charlton in the first half of the season, the 20-year-old has maintained his form during his spell at Swansea.

In total this campaign, Gallagher has scored six goals and contributed nine assists in 36 appearances; an impressive return which no doubt Lampard has taken notice of.

Armando Broja

The Albanian was the latest youngster to be handed his senior debut as a late substitute for Olivier Giroud in the 4-0 win over Everton.

Broja has been prolific at Under 18 level, and his physical attributes mean he is more than ready to make the step up to first-team level.
