FIVE Chelsea Stars Who Could Be Sold If Their Contract Situations Are Not Resolved

While there has been a lot of talk about the likes of N’Golo Kante whose contracts expire this summer, there has been less focus on the Chelsea players who have deals that end in 2024.

There are actually eleven contracted senior stars (including those out on loan) who have yet to extend their contracts beyond the end of next season.

In this post, we will be looking at five of these players and determining whether they could be sold when the transfer window reopens this summer.

Press the next page as we name the Blues stars whose time at the club could be coming to an end.

Mason Mount

The England international is the most high profile star on this list, and it appears his departure from Stamford Bridge is looking more and more likely.

Mount feels he is deserving of a significant pay rise as a regular starter, and he has been asking for a salary close to top earners Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly (who are on approximately £300,000 a week).

Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on the midfielder’s situation so watch this space.

Mateo Kovacic

Unlike Mount, there has been much less discussion about the Croatian international’s future despite the fact that he is closing in on the final twelve months of his contract.

Kovacic remains an important first-team player and, at 28 years of age, he is still in his prime years, so it is somewhat surprising that he hasn’t yet been tied down for the long term.

Trusted journalist Matt Law has confirmed Manchester City are keen on the midfielder so a switch to the Etihad is a genuine possibility.

Callum Hudson-Odoi

The winger is currently on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, where he has put in a number of underwhelming performances.

Hudson-Odoi has scored just one goal and contributed only one assist in 20 appearances for the Bundesliga side. Those are not the sort of numbers that will convince Chelsea to renew his contract.

A sale at the end of the season is looking increasingly likely for the 22-year-old, who was once hailed as a generational talent.

Christian Pulisic

It is believed that the American international would have been sold during the January transfer window if he hadn’t picked up a knee injury.

The likes of Manchester United and Newcastle were credited with an interest in Pulisic, who has flattered to deceive during his three and a half years at Stamford Bridge.

Injuries have been an issue but his lack of consistency has also been a major bone of contention. With the likes of Mykhailo Mudryk, Raheem Sterling, Noni Madueke and Hakim Ziyech also at the club, Pulisic is unlikely to get much game time if he stays.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

The midfielder has had similar issues to Pulisic in terms of fitness and consistency but the serious Achilles injury he sustained a few years ago really set back his development.

At 27 years of age, Loftus-Cheek should be in his prime years, but he has never managed to really fulfil his potential.

A move to a club where is guaranteed to play week in, week out, may yet help him develop into the player that many felt he could become.
