Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel surprisingly recalled Marcos Alonso to the starting eleven for the game against Burnley yesterday.
The Spaniard had not made an appearance for the Blues since being subbed at half time in the 3-3 draw against West Brom in September, but he quickly made up for lost time by scoring the second goal to secure a 2-0 win for his side.
Alonso was given the nod ahead of Ben Chilwell with Tuchel citing the fact that the 30-year-old is used to playing in the left wingback position. Fans on Twitter were willing to give the player credit for his performance:
Honestly.. fair play to the man. What a goal

There isn’t many players that are better than him in those positions. The killer instinct and his shooting accuracy is top notch ?? pic.twitter.com/3mnunvSIGt

Against teams that sit back, it seems Tuchel will use the 3-4-3 formation in order to get in behind opponents and it certainly worked versus Burnley.
We may see Alonso feature in these type of games but it is still doubtful that Tuchel will select the Spanish international ahead of Chilwell on a regular basis.
