Fabrizio Romano Sets The Record Straight On Whether Chelsea Are In For Milan Star

Chelsea have not contacted AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma’s agent about the player moving to Stamford Bridge, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The reliable journalist responded to a question about the Blues’ interest in the Italian international on Calciomercato.com. While he did deny that the London club had been in talks, he didn’t completely rule out a transfer.

“Until now Chelsea have not contacted Donnarumma. His transfer remains possible but everything will go through the contract [renewal].”

Donnarumma’s agent is Mino Raiola and it is believed Milan are having issues trying to negotiate a new contract for the goalkeeper.

The 21-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of next season, and the Rossoneri could be forced into selling him if an extension can’t be agreed.

Chelsea are believed to be on the lookout for a new number one, with Kepa Arrizabalaga having failed to convince manager Frank Lampard, and Donnarumma’s availability is likely to make him a potential option.

The Italian has been in decent form for Milan this campaign, conceding 33 goals and keeping ten clean sheets in 26 games.
